If you ask most people what their dream bodies would be, a lot of them would say skinny. After all, skinny bodies are plastered all over magazines and billboards—they are constantly shown on TV and even in the movies. There is no denying that svelte bodies are in, but is a skinny body the ideal body that everyone should aspire to have? With all the emphasis placed on being skinny, it is starting to distort the perception of so many people and blinding them from what is really important and that is to be healthy.
How to Get Fit and Healthy
Most people associate being fat with being unhealthy but the sad fact is being skinny can be just as unhealthy. In their desire to lose weight, people would often resort to starvation diets or rely on dangerous slimming pills that could have adverse effects in the long run. If you have to starve your body and rely on pills just to lose weight, that is not healthy at all.
Pills and starvation are not the answer to getting healthy. Sure, you may lose fat but with that you will also lose muscle, bone density, and hair (hair falls out if you are malnourished!) and really, it is anything but sexy.
Experts say that when you starve yourself, your body goes into starvation mode and will in fact hold on to every bit of fat in the body much more stubbornly. When you use pills to burn fat that are high in caffeine and heaven knows what else, you risk developing health conditions that might not be easily remedied.
The best way to lose weight and be fit is still the tried and tested method of eating right, eating in time, and exercising. This way, you develop healthy habits and you lose weight but still maintain overall health and even gain muscles that work to get rid of fat.
